How to install Microsoft Edge on Linux!

Microsoft Edge is Microsoft ‘s browser , and there is a version for Linux . The latest version of Edge for Linux is already considered stable. As everyone already knows, the browser is based on Chromium and promises to be faster than its predecessors, and even faster than Google’s browser. In this tutorial, learn how to install Microsoft Edge on Ubuntu Linux , Fedora and other distributions.

Installing Microsoft Edge on Ubuntu Linux, Mint or Debian

To install Microsoft Edge on Ubuntu Linux , Mint or Debian is simple. Just run the commands below. To make it easier we created a copy button. Then, click the copy button and in the Terminal use the right mouse button and then click paste.

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
curl https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc | gpg --dearmor > microsoft.gpg
sudo install -o root -g root -m 644 microsoft.gpg /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge stable main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft-edge-dev.list'

Now, run the last command to install Microsoft Edge on Ubuntu Linux. But, remember that all these commands work on any Ubuntu based system like Linux Mint and others:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install microsoft-edge-dev

Finally, you can remove the Microsoft key, for that run:

sudo rm microsoft.gpg

How to install Microsoft Edge for Linux on Fedora, AlmaLinux and RHEL

If you have Fedora from version 35 onwards, know that you can install Microsoft Edge too . Run the commands below:

sudo dnf upgrade
sudo dnf update
sudo dnf install dnf-plugins-core

As with Ubuntu, Microsoft Edge for Linux is not available in the official repositories, so we need to add the repository to Fedora in order to proceed with the installation:

sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://packages.microsoft.com/yumrepos/edge

sudo rpm --import https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc

sudo dnf update
sudo dnf install microsoft-edge-dev
